Brookstone tabletop fire pits recalled (48,700): flame jetting and pool fires caused second- and third-degree burns
CPSC recalled Brookstone-branded indoor/outdoor tabletop fire pits on August 13. The round or hexagonal concrete reservoirs burn liquid alcohol, and use can produce uncontrolled pool fires across spilled fuel or flame jetting from the container - burns that can be serious or fatal. Southern Telecom has two reports of flame jetting, with two injuries including second- and third-degree burns. Affected models are BSFIREPIT01, BSFIREPIT02 and BSFIREPIT03 (UPCs 680079015930, 680079015947, 680079015954); the model and UPC sit on the bottom of the packaging. About 48,700 units were sold.
Remedy: stop using it, email a photo with 'Recalled', your name and the date written on it to support@customersupport123.com (or call 877-832-3822), then dispose of the unit - do not resell it. The incident count is small, but the injury mechanism is severe and the fix is immediate and free.
