Goody King magnetic building cubes recalled (213,500 sets): loose magnets sent two children to surgery

CPSC recalled Goody King magnetic building cubes on August 13 because magnets can come loose when a cube breaks or opens. Swallowed high-powered magnets can attract each other inside the body and perforate, twist or block the intestines. There are 27 reports of cubes breaking or opening and two children who ingested magnets and needed surgery to remove them. The sets, sold on Amazon in 45 to 300-piece configurations, come in 19 listed styles (for example Galaxy GL100, Unicorn UN100, Dark Castle DK100 and GC150, Woods WD100); the model number is on the back of the packaging.

Action: stop using them now and email safety@goodyking.com or go to recall.goodyking.com for a full refund; a prepaid label is provided. This recall has a working remedy, which is why it scores above the playset warning despite the smaller unit count.
